After having had several busy days I decided to take it easy today, I slept late and then Nanci and I took a street car to Queen Street. We found the Harboud school where "Veil of Tears" was filmed. I took a picture of the steps where Caine was going to make his speech and a picture at the corner where Caine kicks Peter's butt. It was amazing to be there.

We found the precinct and ate lunch at a Pizza Pizza across the street. It was kind of odd to look across the street and see that building. I expect to see Peter coming out.

After lunch we headed for Caine's loft apartment. The area had changed, they installed a handicap ramp and an office moved in at the base of the fire escape and there was parking too. The rest of the building looked deserted.

We had to leave by four, Nanci had a charity function at a lodge she belonged to and I had to get ready to meet Maria and B-M at their hotel, we were going out for a farewell dinner.

I took two subways to get downtown and walked a short way to the hotel and waited in the lobby for them to come down. I brought them two bottles of vanilla coke. Maria had said she couldn't find it in Sweden.

Maria led the way to the BCE place where she'd found a restaurant that she had found the other night. It was called Marche, it was a very different dining experience. There are food stalls throughout the place and what you do is you get a ticket, pick up a tray and walk around and pick out which food you want. They stamp your ticket and you don't pay until you walk out. You can go up as many times as you'd like.

We were having such a good time. I had stir fry shrimp, Maria had a fish combo and B-M had the same thing.

For dessert I had ice cream with caramel sauce, Maria had a crepe filled with fruit and topped with chocolate sauce. B-M had chocolate mousse cake laid on top of a vanilla sauce. We had so much fun we didn't realize we'd been there for four hours. We left the restaurant and took some pictures by the fountain in the BCE place and then decided to head back to their room.

Maria and B-M had bought some sci-fi magazines. Maria discovered one of them was in French and she didn't know French. B-M knew some French and began translating it from French to English. A few minutes later she stopped and looked up amazed. She didn't realize she was translating it into English instead of into Swedish so she was handling two languages which was not her native language. I can tell you it impressed me too. She said she was thinking in English while she was in Canada. (maybe I corrupted her into speaking English)

Maria was showing us pictures she'd taken on her digital camera, which was the size of a credit card. She uploaded to her laptop. She seemed to enjoy taking pictures of B-M when she was having a bad hair day and she took a picture of me with a strange look on my face.

The sad part of the evening was saying goodbye, we hugged and B-M escorted me back to the subway station. I did something I would never do in New York. I took the subway by myself at night. I felt safer there. I arrived back at Nanci's and we hung out for a bit then turned in at 3:30 AM.

I got up late and was being lazy again. Nanci and I decided to go to Chinatown. We took the streetcar to Spadina and King Streets and walked our way up to Chinatown. I had a fu locations list with me and we were following it to find the different places fu took place.

Of course we found the kwoon very easily and the alley where Caine collapses in "Initiation" episode. It had changed some. There were overgrown bushes covering the fence. We saw Jack Wong's restaurant (Silver Dollar bar) the roof where Caine fought in Initiation. We traveled down Dundas Street and saw a few other sites then decided to go have dinner. We took a streetcar to the beach and ate at an outdoor café on lake Ontario. On the beach there were three nets set up and volleyball was being played.

I had fettuccini alfredo and Nanci had a salad.

We walked back across the boardwalk and over the foot bridge that went over the Gardiner expressway and took a streetcar back to her place and hung out for a little bit. We had to be in bed earlier, I was going home on Mon.

With much reluctance I made sure I was packed and left Nanci's for the Union Square station. The pope had been in Toronto for the weekend, so traffic was a little busy and the train was packed with religious youth groups returning from seeing the pope.

I realized I should have stayed an extra day and then gone home. The train would have been less crowded.

At about 7PM two priests and a group of passengers decided to do a rosary. I had never seen this prayer service. One of the priests asked me what parish I belonged to and I told him I was Jewish. He not only thought I was with the group, but thought I was a nun. I don't think you could mistake me for a nun, especially with all the CP drool material I had with me, not to mention some romance books Barb had given me to read on my trip home.

This is one trip I will never forget.
