Al Leong (General Jian) became the Fight Coordinator for the show for seasons 3 and 4. He's done tons of bit roles in TV and movies including the first Lethal Weapon movie. He's the one who electricutes Mel Gibson's character.

When the limo is cruising down the street, looking for action, it passes the studio for MuchMusic (Canadian MTV). The street is Yonge street in Toronto. You can see the spinning records (or tape reels) of Sams record shop. Also, the video store in one shot has an X-Men poster in the window.

The dressmaker has his second appearance in this episode. His first one was in Redemption 1.

Jon Cassar (the director of this episode) is an extra in the precinct scene where Peter is walking through the squadroom with Jian (as he's released from custody) Monica Sztybel
Script differences
In the script I have, when Strenlich and Peter are at the bar talking about Jian and Peter tells Frank about the stories his father told him at the temple, he ends his speech with, "Like a nightmare come to life."

Strenlich says, "More like a Chinese opera..."
Peter: "No. Very real. That's what was frightening. He was very real."

After Peter points out that Jian has entered the bar, Frank says, "Is he following you around?"
Peter: (soft) "I felt his chill when I sat down..."

The dialog between Peter and Molly in the hospital is much longer. She goes on and on about his bravery in the military and how they don't talk anymore. She complains that Frank spends more time with Blaisdell and Kermit. Peter chimes in with "I've had similar conversations with Kelly..." She continues to go on about how she works in the hostage squad and that she talks more with Stiles than Frank. Peter tries his best to console her and that's when she says "Damn him!" and her speech goes on from there.

In the script, as soon as Molly moves to Franks bedside, Paul shows up.
The interchange starts with:

Paul: "I just got the word. How is he?"
Peter: "Banged up to hell, but okay."
Paul: "One guy?"
Peter: "Yeah."

Then Paul goes into how he never thought one guy would take Frank down. He asks Peter for a lead. Peter says he has more than that. "I've met the man... a General Jian..."
Paul: "You were present but you didn't make an arrest?"
Peter: "It was either go after Jian or stay with Strenlich..."

Peter goes on to say that it wasn't "clear-cut". He tells Paul that Frank got mad and Paul asks if Frank started it. Peter answers, "He finished it." Peter then says he's going to haul Jian in. Then Paul offers to stay with Molly. It's Peter that suggests that the act might have been solf defence. And it's Paul who wants to know the facts. Instead of Paul hearing Peter's guilt trip ("It was my fault..."), Paul goes into the room before Peter says it. I like how they did it in the episode.

I suspect the hotel suite was the same one they used in Target. The room behind the sitting room with what looks like a dining room table, looks similar to the room Campos is in when Peter visits him at night.

Just before Caine discusses conditions of the fight with Jian, he speaks with Lo Si and Peter about Caine's father and how he knew Jian's father. Peter is stunned by the information.

Ancient: (to Caine) "He was your father's lord. The one to whom he gave benediction."
Peter: "What?"
Caine: "No. He would never kneel to the father or his young son."
Peter: "My grandfather? He lived in this province?"
Caine: "For a time."

Then it goes on with Caine's conditions.

The script handles the knifing better. In the episode it looks like Peter should see the sword from where he's standing, but he doesn't warn Caine. In the script he does. And it's then that Peter attacks the bodyguard (the one who played Tsun Gwi), not before.

In the tag, Peter enters and pulls up a stool. He comments on the laquering job Caine is doing. "I'm not sure I have the patience for that."
Caine: "At your age, I'm not sure I did either."

Peter goes on to tell him that Frank is out of the hospital and that the bills were mysteriously paid. Caine says, "So the General can feel guilt... a good sign." Peter talks about how the General left that day with a police escort. Caine smiles and says, "I'm sure he was honored."

Then Peter goes on about the people he'll be going back to and Caine tells him those times are changing. There is a small tap at the door (which one, I have no idea). Peter rises and opens it and finds no one there. He picks up the package, mentions to Caine about having an admirer, and Caine instructs him to open it, as in the episode.

Once they see the broken sword, Caine says Jian kept his word. Then Peter brings up the flashback. The odd part about it is that Peter talks about it like it's the first time it's brought up:

Peter: "You know, this whole business got me thinking about keeping your word. Do you remember when I was young... when I had a problem?"
Caine: "Yes...the famous fight."
Peter: "Which never took place."
Caine: "You stood with the boy you had sworn an oath with. It ended the issue."
Peter: "And you knew it would."
Caine: "The simple act of honoring a promise impressed your other friend enough to walk away from the fight."
Peter: "Yeah, and the fact that it was suddenly two against one." (on Caine's look) "And honor."
Caine cracks up, along with Peter, and we fade out.
