| I think
Scott Wentworth was busy in Stratford during the filming
of this episode. |
Monica Sztybel |
| The actor who played
Cooper, shows up in fourth season as the Colonel of the
military academy in Special Forces. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Chris really hurt
himself on the coffee table. He cursed and that line had
to be dubbed over. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Chris also hits his head
against the Stealth a short time later as he gets in it. |
Monica Sztybel |
| At one point during the
last fight, Chris is not wearing his gloves - oops. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Robert Lansing was ill
with cancer during his work on KFTLC. This episode was
not supposed to be his last, but a good way to explain
the actors need to be away for treatments.
Unfortunately, he died a few months later. This episode
has turned into the best send-off for a very talented
actor. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Although filmed second
to last, this episode aired last. I believe Michael Sloan
wanted it that way. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Script differences | |
| In the tease of the
script I have, it starts out with Blaisdell as a nervous
wreck, having trouble with cufflinks. Annie fastens them
with ease. They're in the kitchen. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Then Peter goes through
his nervous routine with an added line in the beginning,
"Is this the good crystal?" |
Monica Sztybel |
| After Paul's outburst in
the precinct, there is an added dialog between Skalany,
Jody and Borderick. There is no mention of Peter leaving
after the scene, so he must be sitting at his desk as
they're whispering. Jody: (softly) "What the hell was all that about?" Skalany: (also soft) "I know the Captain's rattled by what happened last night, but..." Jody: "How could he talk that way to his own son?" Broderick: (as he passes) "It's not his real son..." |
Monica Sztybel |
| In the scene between
Blaisdell and Blake, after Paul tells him that the
knowledge of the bug has to stay between them, Blake
asks, "Shouldn't you let Peter know about
this?" Paul: "No." |
Monica Sztybel |
| Instead of "What
troubles you, Son?" Caine repeats Peter's line,
which is, "Tell me what troubles you?" The flashback starts with a few more lines before what we see in the episode. DESCRIPTION: "In the courtyard. Peter runs into the shot. He looks out at the greenery beyond, his hands clenching into fists. Tears spill down his cheeks. Caine appears behind him. Caine: (gently) "Tell me what troubles you." Peter: "It has nothing to do with you. Just leave me alone." Caine: "You did not go to your secret place. I took that to mean you wanted counsel. I will do as you ask." He begins to move away. Peter turns. The scene goes on from there. |
Monica Sztybel |
| The script lists the bar
the cops hang out as Chandlers, but we know it's
different:-) There is more dialog between Kelly and Peter before Stiles shows up. She's handling him with kid gloves. Kelly: "You don't think the attack has to do with police work?" Peter: (shaking his head) "Something Paul... excuse me, Captain Blaisdell... said about the past. A 'Falcon's Wing' darkening over him." Kelly: "What does that mean?" Peter: "Who the hell knows? He's always so secretive." (glancing past the camera) "Oh, great! This is just what I need!" Captain Stiles walks in. Kelly: "Who's that?" Peter: "Captain Bartlett Stiles, head of the SWAT team. Gives the term 'martinet' a whole new meaning." When Peter comments that he didn't know that Stiles and Blaisdell go way back, Stile says, "What you don't know about me would fill a grave." Scarey thought. When Peter asks him what Kiev has to do with Paul today, Stiles says, "The past reaching out like a cold hand on your shoulder. Sounds like something your father would say." When Peter comments that he didn't think Stiles like Blaisdell, Stiles says, "I don't like anyone. Haven't you heard the talk around the precinct?" |
Monica Sztybel |
| The scene where
Blaisdell shows up at Caine's place is set up
differently. DESCRIPTION: "Caine has his back to us. Scuff of sound behind him. He whirls into a fighting stance. Blaisdell moves into frame. He's dressed exactly as we've just seen him, same coat, same clothes beneath. He's dishevelled, out of breath and there's blood on his coat and hands. he looks down, startled. Camera pulls back to show the bodiesof the would-be assassins lying unconscious on the floor." Caine: "They came to kill me. Are your enemies my enemies?" Paul: "Could be. If they believed you would help me." (Caine looks at Blaisdell's bloodied hands)..." The dialog is the same from there, but there's no instance where Paul cleans his hands. |
Monica Sztybel |
| Instead, Paul apparently
has washed his hands at home. Annie discovers him packing
in the living room, but there's some added dialog. Paul: "It is dangerous for me to stay here." Annie: "You mean it's dangerous for us. For Kelly and myself." Paul: "That's right." He makes a move past her. She grips his hands. Annie: "The towel in the bathroom had dried blood on it. I could smell it. What happened, Paul? Why are you so frightened?" Paul: "You remember John Matheison?" Annie: "The Senator with the stuffy wife? You hate him." Paul: "Not enough to kill him. But that's the way it's going to look..." Then he goes on to tell her not to tell Peter he was here. |
Monica Sztybel |
| After Peter's
altercation with Caine at the Ancient's apartment, he
leaves and Lo Si says, "He is in great pain." Caine: "Because a man he loves and respects is in greater pain." |
Monica Sztybel |
| Paul and Stiles discuss
the diary. Stiles asked Paul if he went back to look for
it. Paul said he did the next day. Then Paul wonders if
that's when Caine took it. Stiles is confused. Stiles: What the hell are you talking about?" Paul: (softer) "Attempting the impossible." |
Monica Sztybel |
| Paul gives chase when
the cops arrive. He runs until he's trapped and that's
when Peter walks up and reads him his rights. |
Monica Sztybel |
| There is a scene where
Caine sits and tries to recall what he saw in the diary
after he has returned from his journey. He then opens his
eyes and says, "Yes." |
Monica Sztybel |
| In the interrogation
room, Paul explains that the reason the killer was
dressed like him was because his office is bugged and he
was on the phone with Annie, telling her what he'd be
wearing. During the conversation between Cooper and Strenlich, Paul looks at the mirror from the interrogation room and says, "Tell Detective Caine to take a break, Strenlich. He's getting tired." |
Monica Sztybel |
| They have a scene where
they show Stiles entering Caine's place, gun drawn. Caine tells him he doesn't need it. Stiles: "You said you had some information for me? A matter of life and death?" Caine: "A matter of survival. Blaisdell's survival." Peter enters the room in time to hear this. Peter: (to Caine) "Got here as soon as Blake gave me your message." (looking at Stiles) "What's going on?" |
Monica Sztybel |
| At the warehouse, while
Stiles, Cooper and Caine are talking, the script
describes Peter as, "groggy, blood down one side of
his head..." When Peter pulls Paul off Stiles, the script description is: "Blaisdell leans against Peter, then hugs him close. Caine moves into frame and takes Peter's arm, making the triumverate complete..." |
Monica Sztybel |
| After Blaisdell hugs
Peter in the tag and walks off, Caine says, "Great
love appears indifferent. Great wisdom appears childish.
When he has embraced his loneliness. When the demons are
gone. He will come back." And then the scene ends the way it did in the episode. |
