| Script differences | |
| In the original script,
as Paul goes to dance with Carolyn, Annie points out
Blaisdell's first wife, a red haired woman, to Caine. She
asks Caine what the first wife looks like, because Paul
only described her as Bette Davis in "Whatever
Happened to Baby Jane". Caine replies with,
"She is beautiful in her way as in yours." |

| After the flashback
about Peter's mother, and the dialog about Peter carrying
the photo of his mother in his wallet and Annie in his
heart, she starts her reply the same, "I think I'm
going to like you a lot." In the script she continues with, "I'm so glad Peter's found you. There was such rage inside him. Such pain. You must heal those wounds." Caine replies with, "I will try." She says, "No. You will succeed." Then she turns her head and asks, "How happy does my husband look?" Caine watches and replies, "Proud." Annie says, "I'm proud of him. There are demons in his past. Perhaps he can put them to rest today." |

| When they first take out
the men and Peter is overpowered by the man with the
shotgun, and Caine takes out the guy, Peter is helped to
his feet and asked, "Did I want to fight when I was
a kid?" Caine replies, "Always." Peter:
"Good thing I grew out of that." |

| Script description of
when Peter first jumps to the cables and grabs onto
Caine's hand. Peter has just gotten a good hold and is
letting go of Caine's hand: "Caine lets go of Peter's hand. Peter looks up at his father. The look says it all. Trust. That is the bond that's being forged here..." |
