Dark Side of the Chi

| In the white
version of the script, when Caine and Skalany enter
Delancey's, Peter doesn't let Caine get away too easily.
When Caine asks Peter to make sure Skalany's night ends
on a lighter note, Peter grabs his arm. Peter: "Okay. You want to tell me the truth now?" Caine throws off his son's restraining hand. Caine: "You never did learn to respect privacy. Not as a child in the temple or as an adult. Peter: (ironic) "Being a cop does that to you. Interrogation just becomes second nature. Being a son heightens it. What really happened?" Caine: "I must go." Caine exits frame before Peter can stop him. |

| The next scene is of him
entering his quarters. Cheryl is there. He is perspiring
freely now. Cheryl: "I got those herbs you wanted." (feeling his forehead) "My God, you're burning up. I guess even Shaolin priests can get the flu." Caine: "Leave me now." Cheryl: "Shouldn't you see a doctor? A homeopathic doctor? I can..." Caine: (stronger) "Leave me!" A beat, then Cheryl nods curtly, picks up her coat and exits the room... Peter finds Caine on the floor a few seconds before Cheryl shows up with the Ancient. Peter: (as he kneels) "Pop! Pop, what is it? Are you sick?" |

| When Peter and the
Ancient are in Caine's Bardo, Caine says, "Leave me.
Leave me." Peter: "I can't. I won't." |

| As they are showing him
the good moments of his life, rather than Peter say,
"Feel it!" he says, "Stay with us, Pop.
Stay with us. I need you. I love you." |

| In the blue version, the
end of the scene in Delancey's is the same as in the
episode. When Peter finds Caine (which is the same as
above) there's more to his line. Peter: (as he kneels) "Pop! Pop, what is it? I knew something was wrong! Are you sick?" |
Monica Sztybel |
| As they are watching the
good moments, Peter's line is: "Stay with us, Pop.
Stay with us. I need you. I love you. Many people do.
_Feel_that love. Feel it." |
