In the script, just before Simms' gun is discovered, Skalany turns to Peter and asks where Caine is. Peter replies softly, "He's helping."

It's established that once the art theives have the paintings they must get past Peter and Skalany to get to the door, hence the "I'll take Bonnie", "I'll take Clyde" dialog.

Before they say that, Skalany says, "Can't let them take a hostage."

Peter: "I know. We just need to take out Bonnie and Clyde...and hope Blake can shoot in candlelight."

That's when they say their Bonnie and Clyde lines.

When Megan has Skalany by the throat, Jimmy shouts, "Kill her!"

As Simms and Skalany tend to Blake, Peter tries vainly to call out on Blake's phone. Simms asks wryly, "Can't you psychically call out?"

Peter: "I think I missed the being-at-one with your cellular phone lesson back at the temple."When Peter and Caine are conferring about the stolen art, Peter says, "One day we need to have a long meditation about cellphones."

When Peter comes out of the flashback about the archer, and he tells Caine he's unsure if he can master the trick of seeing in the dark, Caine's reply is different, "Peter, you have made great advances in your training. Iron palm, heat control, balance. You bear all the markings of a Shaolin."

Peter: "Except for the brands."
Caine: "Yet, you are Shaolin in your heart, Peter. If you concentrate again, you will see what you seek."

The next thing we see is Simms turning to Peter to ask him if he made contact on the cell phone. She notices that he's gone and the phone remains.

When Caine tells Peter he needs to make a decision, he replies with a sigh, "I know. But can't I just enjoy tonight? We nailed the bad guys again."

Caine: "Yes, we did "nail" them, didn't we?" (off Peter's look) "A contraction. I will be more diligent." (a beat) "I suppose the decision as to your future can wait. For now."

Peter puts an arm around his father's shoulders as they look out inot the light and we fade out.
