Dragon's Eye
by Linda Schwartz
your always helping those in need, father. I guess that's one of the many things I'm proud of.
A little girl was dying and you went all out trying to save her. I found out you'd gone to the woods, just outside our city. You went to collect a Dragon's Eye flower, it was needed to cure the girl.
You didn't know the danger that waited for you there. The Feds were looking for a dangerous lunatic. I was desperate to find you, he'd already sent several officers to the hospital, I didn't want you to end up there, too.
I can't believe I'm tracking you, Pop. I'm using all the skills you taught me. I can see the changes, I looked away then I look back and I can see where the pattern has been broken.
I found you and the madman, I want to arrest him. You tell me not to shoot him, even after he threw a knife at me. You tell me he feels there is no place for him in this world. I can understand, but I have to try to get take him in. And you ask me at the price of the girl. You know my answer to that. I am my father's son.
I thought I could get back your pouch, that was lost. But I guess I didn't learn that lesson too well, Pop. Suddenly the world is turned upside down. I was caught in one of his traps, I rushed in without thinking. "OH, my ankle", I cry out. As you come closer the madman is there. You protect me from him and take him down. Then you get me out of this trap.
"Pop, wait!." I know you can't, you have to a life to save. I'm glad we were together, after all 'We're a team!'
